Index Fund is a fund that has a goal of matching the performance of an  index such as the S&P 500 by buying the exact stocks that are in the index.

Understand How Index Fund Works

DIA, SPY and QQQ are DJIA, S&P 500 and NASDAQ ETF’s respectably.
