A hedge fund is different from a mutual fund in that there is a larger variety of investment types and strategies that can be used in hedge funds.  Investors often have to meet certain requirements in order to invest in these types of funds.  Fees are often higher in hedge funds with the standard yearly fee being 2% plus 20% of whatever profits the hedge fund produces.
